Times Square

Times Square
Times square I believe is extremely memorable and unique to the city. Times Square is famous for its annual New Years Eve ball drop when the clock strikes midnight. The ball begins to move at 11:59 each year down the forty-three metre flag pole. People from all over the world come to see this surreal event and gather on the ground dressing up, dancing, socialising and taking part in the event.
This event was founded by Adolph Ochs, head of The New York Times to promote that One Times Square was their new head quarters.
The roads are blocked early on New Years Eve. Grids are set out to section out times square into different zones. No alcohol or backpacks are allowed in. There are large checkpoints patrolled by the NYPD(New York Police Department). Checks have increased nine/eleven for safety of the attendants.

Central Park
Eight hundred and forty-three acres is the total area that central park is made up of. There is a sixty-five million dollar budget each year for the conservation and upkeep of the park. there are over forty-two million tourists that pass through the park each year.

Some of the attractions are the boat house (a restaurant perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner, sometimes even occasions), the Central Park zoo is popular among families and the Trump Ice Rink around the Christmas months. As well as the Trump Ice Rink during the Winter season there is also a rink in Rocker Feller centre beside the world famous and renowned massive Christmas tree that features in many movies ex. Home Alone.

Brooklyn
Brooklyn consists of a vast seventy-one miles of land. Brooklyn is connected to Manhattan by the famous Brooklyn Bridge. This bridge is attractive by its appearance, it I think is a great example of well planned and built architecture. Everyday thousands of workers commute from the Brooklyn Borough to the central business district(CBC). The bridge can by walked on or cycled, there is a special footpath above  the roadway for this.

In the long run the cost of building this bridge is cancelled out by the economical benefits. This bridge relieved NYC of major congestion problems and led to people being able to quickly and cheaply between the two boroughs.
Brooklyn is also a thriving tourist destination, part of most tourists NYC experience.

Must sees and dos I think are (sourced from trip advisor):
1)Brooklyn Bridge
2)Brooklyn Heights Promenade (views of the Manhattan skyline)
3)Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Manhattan
Manhattan is renowned for it's upper class residents and high end shops which are seen in many TV shows and movies, for example Friends and Sex and the city. Fifth avenue contains only the biggest and best brands among the stores are  the high tech apple store, F.A.O Swartz, Tiffany's…

The shops are not the only things that generate money in Manhattan. The well-known yellow taxi cabs cost $1,000,000 to operate in the Manhattan area and the hot dog stands can have a fee up to $289,000. I find this very hard to believe.

The Physical geography of New York.
New York is located in The United States of America on the West Coast. New York is most commonly known for its skyline of sky scrapers that light up the whole city at night. This famous New York is politically correctly called New York City.  The state of New York's largest city is New York City.
This city is broken up and separated by five different boroughs linked by bridges; Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and  The Bronx.
